Hunston Over 60’s Christmas Tea held on Sunday 8 December was a tremendous success. Organised by five wonderful ladies from Merle Court: “Our Merle Court Five!” Sandra Stenning, Debbie Webb, Jean Fenwick, Rene Baker and Mal Paluba.
Seventy people attended and enjoyed a fabulous spread of savouries, cake, mince pies and more! The Merle Court Five bought all the food, made all the sandwiches and prepared everything. With an average age of 73 – they are quite something!
Christmas Carols were led by Senga Hornal, supported by four members of the All Sing Community Gospel Choir. Delighted to say everyone was in good voice!
Particular thanks are due to Margaret and Jack Maidment – Margaret was there for the whole day – who worked so hard to get everything ready. Joined by in the afternoon by Wendy Gray (the Elf), Chris Malby, Gill Kahler and Chris Harrison. Thanks to Tina Teyers for the beautiful table decorations and to Ann Green and Daphne Snelling for making cakes, along with the Christmas cake made by Sue Waite.
Not only did the Merle Court Five provide all the food, they also donated lucky dip presents for everyone (with a few donations as well).
Hunston should be proud of these wonderful ladies – their generosity and hard work – gave everyone a special Christmas Tea – thank you.
